[IDV #CHU-646786]: Sea surface temperature; weekly/monthly optical depth

There are global sea surface temperature (SST) models available that can
be read by the IDV. Under the Catalogs chooser/idvcatalog.xml go to:
Idv Catalog->UNidata IDD Model Data->UCAR (motherlode)->Selected NCEP model
data converted to netcdf

As to calculating these values - the IDV supports creating derived products
from existing data.
You would have to figure out how to do this. Here is the relevant user guide
section:
 http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/IDV/docs/userguide/page_dataanalysis.html

We don't have any predefined way of calculating sea surface temperature.
