[IDV #AAD-949148]: IDV Question

It will all depend on your data and the table.  If you are looking at Level 
III data, there are only 16 levels.  For other data (e.g. Level II), it will 
scale the 256 colors to the range of the color table (e.g. 0-80).

However, for the Base Reflectivity table, even though it has 256 colors,
they are broken up into 16 bins of the same color (to match the Level III data).
It was created from a McIDAS enhancement table which always has 256 colors.
If you want more resolution, you could create a color table with a different
color for each value. Again, these will be linearly fit to the range of the 
color
table that you set.  The Basic->Gray Scale color table has a unique color
for each of the 256 values.
