[IDD #HGX-774709]: LDM support

Hi Kevin,

OK, no worries.

The LDM provides two basic functions:

- move products from one machine to another

'ldmadmin watch' showing products says that this part is working now.

- doing something with the products as they are received

This part of an LDM configuration is typically left to the end user
as s/he knows best what their site wants to do with the data. The
exception to this "rule" is when a site uses another/other Unidata
packages for which there are pattern-action files that will process
the data in the way that is best for the package being used. Examples
of the packages I am alluding to are GEMPAK, McIDAS, THREDDS Data Server
  (TDS) and AWIPS-II.

The question back to you is what you want done with the various types
of data that you are REQUESTing from one or more upstream LDMs?

re:

Can you elaborate on this comment?

re:
> I could have make a mistake with the part of those logs,

If you have built and are running a current version of the LDM
(e.g., LDM-6.13.4), then the setup for LDM logging should work
"out of the box". If you did a standard installation of a
current LDM (i.e., have not modified LDM registry values), then
the LDM log files should be written in the ~ldm/var/logs
directory, and the current one will be named ldmd.log.

Questions:

- what version of the LDM did you install?

- have you (or anyone else there) made any site-specific
modifications to the LDM registry (the file ~ldm/etc/registry.xml)?

- what datastreams are you REQUESTing?

- what do you want to do with the various types of data that
  you are receiving?

- are you using/intending on using a Unidata visualization and
  analysis package?

  If yes, which one(s)?

If you are, then the packages will have pattern-action files that
will decode and or file the data for most efficient use of the
  data.

Again, this will depend on what data you are receiving and what you
want to do with it.

Cheers,

Tom
