[IDD #AQC-617871]: Local Data Manager Question: UCSD aeolus not pulling data

Hi Mary,

re:

Well, something definitely changed. I say this because for years I have been
able to SSH to aeolus as user 'ldm' from the Unidata workstation
laraine.unidata.ucar.edu
and now I can't get to aeolus.

Hmm... I have always stopped/restarted things like the network as 'root',
not as a non-administrative user like 'ldm'.

Did you see data start flowing into aeolus again? I would check this
as follows:

<as 'ldm'>
ldmadmin watch

If you see nothing after the network restart, try restarting the LDM
and then checking again using 'ldmadmin watch'.

OK. Again, is data flowing into aeolus?

I just tried:

<on laraine.unidata.ucar.edu>
ssh address@hidden

This eventually timed out without connecting.

For completeness, I checked to make sure that forward and reverse DNS
is still setup for aeolus; it appears to be:

% nslookup aeolus.ucsd.edu
Server: resolver1.opendns.com
Address: 208.67.222.222

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: aeolus.ucsd.edu
Address: 132.239.114.58

% nslookup 132.239.114.58
Server: resolver1.opendns.com
Address: 208.67.222.222

Name: aeolus.ucsd.edu
Address: 132.239.114.58

Question:

- how are you logging into aeolus?

For instance, are you SSHing from some other UCSD machine; from
a non-UCSD machine; or from the system console?

re:
> Thank you!

No worries.

Cheers,

Tom
