[IDD #SHU-457897]: Question about NEXRAD Level II data

Great, I know this has been elusive :)

The LDM is certainly the most efficient method we currently offer. We also
offer if via "pull"
from our servers, but the transfer protocol is http currently, not sftp.

That service is located at:

http://motherlode.ucar.edu/thredds/idd/radars.html ( or .xml for machines)

..and we prefer to not have this site "scraped" as it adds load to the system
that is best if avoided.

Yes, that is an issue. The LDM is used at many facilities, but we understand
security is paramount.

I am willing to explore this option, but it is not on our list of "things to
do", so hopefully
we can find a quick and easy way to accommodate this.

Our viz software (IDV, McIDAS, GEMPAK) all take the uncompressed data native,
but we can certainly help
in that realm.

I am currently at AGU in SF, so will be able to explore this in greater depth
starting first thing next week.

Will investigate and get back to you.
