Re: 20040225:BGSU latencies

Patrick,

I am seeing a bottleneck coming into bgsu...

/local/ldm/etc% traceroute weather.bgsu.edu
traceroute to weather.bgsu.edu (129.1.112.37), 30 hops max, 40 byte
packets
 1 colima.nsf.gov (198.181.231.1) 3 ms 1 ms 1 ms
 2 arlg-nsf.maxgigapop.net (206.196.177.137) 4 ms 1 ms 1 ms

Hops 11 and 12 concern me....

I assume 13 and 14 are behind a firewall so cannot resolve, but 1000+ ms
is not OK.

Can you contact your IT dept to see if they are doing anything to restrict
flow through those nodes (hops)..it looks goood up to :

10 bgsu-atm2-0s103.ohio-gigapop.oar.net (192.88.192.174) 56 ms 56 ms 56 ms

Curious...
