William and Jeff,

From the traceroute you supplied to psu, it appears as if the problem
lies at psu.

Jeff, has there been a change to the router or switch that goes into

navierldm.meteo.psu.edu

From the traceroute supplied by smsu it looks as if a bottleneck occurrs
one hop from your LDM machine. If the router or switch has not been
changed, have you installed a firewall?

Jeff, would you please investigate w/your sys admin. It could greatly
enhance your machines performance.

By the way, what is the status of ihlseng.ugems.psu.edu ?

Thanks,

-Jeff
