Hello All,

The last image that we have received at Plymouth State was a GOES-10
water vapor image for 1400Z. We did get 1315Z GOES-8 data and a 1300Z
GOES-10 IR image.

Over the last two months, our receipt of McIDAS GOES AREA files has been
a real problem. It seems that LDM is frequently having problems at our
upstream sites with the McIDAS data. Since these problems didn't seem
to happen much before, I am wondering if there might be a problem with
the latest release of LDM. I don't know what version SSEC uses or UIUC
or UMICH, but I can't think of anything else that might have changed.

In any case, I think this problem is significant enough that Unidata
should investigate the problems with the McIDAS GOES AREA files and
hopefully find a solution. There hardly seems to be any problems with
NIDS and NLDN data feeds by comparison. The GOES problems have resulted
in frequent extended outages.

                                Jim
