Subject: Re: UIUC data outage?

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response. I keep hacker's hours (roughly
noon to midnight) so I don't always see the problems at 8AM.

For the record, the current configuration at UIUC is this:

All upstream data sources come into squall.atmos.uiuc.edu
This includes WMO from thelma and MCIDAS from unidata.ssec.wisc.edu.
This machine also runs pqact for local data storage.

data2.atmos.uiuc.edu is downstream of squall and is dedicated
to relay to other downstream nodes. It does not run pqact or
anything else of significance so can dedicate all its resources to relaying.

As for the current problems...

squall was up and running and has apparently recieved all the data.

data2 was also up and running and was connected to several downstream
nodes. However, I did notice several queue corruption messages in
the logs, so perhaps this was preventing data from getting through.
I have rebuilt the queue and restarted. Hopefully that will help.
Strange, normally data2 is pretty reliable. If there's a problem
its usually due to some external factor like networking, etc.
