Rodrigo,

The NTRANS program is a viewer for products which you could generate from
script/command line programs using the NC meta file device driver. You
won't have any file there unless you are generating your own products.
The directory that would be looked into would be the $NTRANS_META directory.
More information about Ntrans and the NC device are available in the
tutorial:
http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/software/gempak/tutorial/ntrans.html

The Ntrans viewer is more suited to map discussions and presentations where
you would have a set of products pregenerated rather than wait for
interactive rendering. In practice, most users would use NMAP2 for
map discussions etc where they can use an "SPF" proceedure file to recall
commonly viewed products.

The model data directories for Garp and NMAP2 are controlled by the
MODEL environmental variable in $NAWIPS/Gemenviron (or Gemenviron.profile for
bash shell).
If you had configured your previous version to view data that is on your system,
you likely have to define the GEMDATA location (and other locations) in your
Gemenviron
file in your new distribution.

To add quikscat bufr products from the HRS idd data stream, use the pattern
as shown in $NAWIPS/ldm/etc/templates/pqact.gempak_upc:
# Quikscat BUFR
HRS ^ISXX(..) KNES ([0-3][0-9])([0-2][0-9])([0-6][0-9])
        FILE data/gempak/qsct/(\2:yyyy)(\2:mm)\2\3.bufr

Once this data is being filed to disk, it can be viwed in NMAP2 under the
data type MISC-->QBUF
This data available on the IDD covers from ~130E to 30W and 70N to 40S as shown
in Fig 3:
