Re: 20050801: 8-bit 88D data in GEMPAK

Steve,

There is also 256-level V and SW. Do you need samples of those?

Matt,

The product you have identifies itself as product 94, which isn't in
the interface control document from ROC or NCDC, and isn't in the GEMPAK tables. The packet code is 16, which will contain the RLE data
values, which I'll add to the display capabiility.

Ahhh, and here I thought you were a mind-reader! :-)

A. I'm attaching a gzip'd sample of KTLX 8-bit reflectivity from our AWIPS.
B. 5.8.3a on a RH Enterprise Linux V3 PC.
C. Have not yet made any changes to the image or radar tables. I only changed datatype.tbl, so the software would see our filenames.

Matt,

OK.... hows this:

A) Ive included a sample of my data product
B) I'll tell you what version of GEMPAK and platform I'm using
C) I've included any changes I've made to image and radar tables
D) All of the above

Its a trick question! ;-)

Steve,

Can you make that a multiple-choice question? :-)

I'm not sure...they are off of our AWIPS system...however it stores them.

Matt,

What is the format of your data files, and have you added entries for
the products into imgtyp.tbl? I display the DPA nids products from
256 bit values.

List,

I can not display 8-bit (256 level) 88D data in the GEMPAK programs. NMAP2 dumps core, and GARP just displays a blank map. Is this a known limitation in GEMPAK? If so, are there plans to add the ability to display this 8-bit data?

Thanks
