Re: 20040510: Shapefile use in GEMPAK

Steve,

Do you have these programs compiled in linux? I downloaded the source and
tried to compile it under RH 8 but I am getting a bunch of errors.

Thanks,

Mike

Brian,

Brian,

There are utilities in the source code distribution
under $GEMMAPS/programs called shpcv and ssfgsf
to convert a shape file to a GEMPAK map file.

If you have the source distribution, you can
cd $GEMMAPS/programs
make shpcv
make ssfgsf
make install

I don't normally include all the format utilities in the binary
distribution, but can post if necessary- let me know at
address@hidden.

The program shpcv will convert a shapefile (containing lat/lon
segments... not UTM grid coordinates) to an ascii format which can be
converted to GEMPAK map file format by ssfgsf.
