20031110: still having troubles getting new data

Dusty,

This process does not involve SNCFIL.
The input data file would be the raw text file (TTAA, TTBB, PPAA etc
sounding bulletins), that you would want decoded by dcuair.
Dcuair will create its output data files, so SNCFIL is not needed.

The dcuair decoder is meant to decode the raw transmission bulletins
that have not been stripped of their control characters.

If you are looking at U. Wyoming's web site that provides GEMPAK
output, such as:
http://weather.uwyo.edu/cgi-bin/sounding?region=naconf&TYPE=TEXT%3AUNMERGED&YEAR=2003&MONTH=11&FROM=1012&TO=1012&STNM=72365

(eg, this is the sounding data obtained by selecting their option Text:Unmerged
as the plot type for a station sounding), then sll you have to
do is download the data file and run SNEDIT using the GEMPAK list output
from Wyoming as the input data, eg:

This text file is called sounding.dat in my directory:

From the above file, I can just run SNEDIT like:

 SNEFIL Sounding edit file sounding.dat
 SNFILE Sounding data file sounding.gem
 TIMSTN Times/additional stations 300/1000
 Parameters requested: SNEFIL,SNFILE,TIMSTN.
 GEMPAK-SNEDIT> run
 SNEDIT PARAMETERS:

 Output sounding file: testmeuwyo.gem
 This file has been created.

Enter <cr> to accept parameters or type EXIT:
[SNEDIT 1] Data for ABQ at 031110/1200 has been added to the file.
 Parameters requested: SNEFIL,SNFILE,TIMSTN.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Otherwise, if you had raw transmission data like:
^A^M^M
857 ^M^M
USUS45 KABQ 101219^M^M
MANABQ^M^M
72365 TTAA 60123 72365 99840 08243 16006 00113 ///// ///// ^M^M
92790 ///// ///// 85513 ///// ///// 70125 05262 24531 50579 ^M^M
13339 24550 40745 22563 24569 30951 36165 25082 25074 47162 ^M^M
20218 58759 15396 63559 10641 71958 88999 77296 25082 408// ^M^M
51515 10164 00004 10194 ///// 22015=^M^M
^M^M
^C

Then you could use the command I sent you previously for dcuair.
Note, the control characters above are necessary. If you download data
with the control characters removed, then you would need to process the
data as shown:
