20020920: 20020918: 20020918: GEMPAK 5.6.h problem

Brian,

SPC used to have a restore file repository repository...but the link
appears dead. Philip Bothwell had some routines calculating many
of the storm parameters as grids using the nsharp point routines.

There is also sndiag/oabsnd for gridding the stability indicies
computed from the upper air data. That would be the best route.
You could back out the shear and cape components from the brch values.

Since brn shear is integrated with height, using the grid diagnostic

GLEVEL = 500:1000   (for example)
GFUNC = mul(WSHR(obs),LDF(HGHT))

will only give the layer shear and not the integrated value. At this point in
time,
the grid diagnostics library routines are not able to integrate quantities
like cape (for bulk richardson) which would utilize all the grids
between 0 and 6 km.
