20020318: gempak

Jeff,

I have installed GEMPAK 5.6.E.1 and set up the decoders for the LDM
as of yesterday. Jeff Weber set up the LDM on fujita and I sent him
some notes about what NEXRAD radar data you would want.

The scouring of the ~ldm/data/gempak directory is currently set
at 2 days in ~ldm/etc/scour.conf. We can see how much room you have after
the data has been decoded for a while.

Your ~ldm/data directory as set up by Jeff is linked to /fujita12/data.
This disk is viewable on fujita, but I don't see it mounted on blizzard.
The Gemenviron file is configured with $NAWIPS pointing to
/usr/local/nawips/NAWIPS and GEMDATA pointing to /fujita12/data/.
It does not appear that /fujita12 is currently mounted on blizzard,
but the $NAWIPS directory is viewable on blizzard.

I set up a basic .cshrc in ~gempak (aka /usr/local/nawips) that sources
the /usr/local/nawips/Gemenviron file. All users that use GEMPAK will want to
source that Gemenviron location.

I will be releasing GEMPAK 5.6.F soon, but that timing has been
set back by our ingestion computers having so much trouble here
creating problems for me to do all my release testing. When
available, We can quickly install the distribution in
~gempak/GEMPAK5.6.F directory, configure Gemenviron, then move the
symbolic ~gempak/NAWIPS link to point to the new directory and
update the decoders in ~ldm/decoders.
