actually, i remember that this can't be set acturately for all the fields,
so i set it to the maximum for the fields using Pressure variable (0-7-4).
the idea was to give an estimate about the size, not the actual value.
the data size can be determine when the data is access using
bufrdata.length after the data is obtained.

float[] bufrdata = bd.getFloatData();
size = bufrdata.length;
