[Datastream #UGU-282382]: LDM fulldisk GOES-EAST level 2 data change

Greetings,

Unfortunately what you see is a (mostly) permanent change. Beginning on
December 1st, GOES-East Full-Disk imagery that comes over NOAAPort/SBN is
northern hemisphere only; since this is the feed that drives the NIAMGE
products that is northern hemisphere only now as well.

Here is the latest SCN describing the change and the reasoning behind it:
https://www.weather.gov/media/notification/pdf2/scn22-94_geo_spectral_coverage_goes-eastwest_aaa.pdf

You'll notice the same set of changes is scheduled for GOES-West imagery on or
about January 4th. Also, while these will be permanent changes they are
scheduled to be rolled back temporarily between Jan 31 through March 6, hence
why I said mostly above.

I will add that while GOES-East (and soon GOES-West) data on the NIMAGE feed is
impacted by these changes, we also offer imagery from a different source on the
SATELLITE (formerly DIFAX) feed. The full-disk imagery here is also full
resolution, so be aware of larger data sizes, but that will continue to be both
north and south hemispheres. Details, including example pattern-actions, can
be found here: https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/data/goesr.html

Additional Full-Disk imagery is available on the UNIWISC feed. The difference
here is bands 2, 8 and 13 (and only those bands) have been rescaled to 4km;
finer than the 6km resolution for the NIMAGE data but coarser than full
resolution (500m, 2km and 2km respectively). This may be a good compromise if
you need southern hemisphere imagery while also needing to conserve bandwidth.
Details on the UNIWISC feed can be found here:
https://www.unidata.ucar.edu/data/uniwisc.html

These are somewhat complicated changes and the details are still forthcoming,
so please let us know if you have any other questions.

Best,
-Mike
