I have been asked to update the new IP address one more (LAST)
time. I apologize to those who have already implemented the
corrective action yesterday. The enterprise changes are large and
complex, a few tweaks were required and the National Level II
(NL2) TDS server address was one of them.
NEW TDS address 140.90.61.126
I appreciate your patience and understanding.
Barring changed due to Critical Weather, Phase One of
the cut over is scheduled for Tuesday 4/21/2020. It will affect
Level III data flow. Level II data flow should be unaffected,
but please ensure both TDS & RDS paths are working anyway.
Phase One maintenance activities do not change the TDS address. (That will happen in Phase Two - currently planned for the first week of May.)

NCEP Network Support Branch (NSB) will be performing routine but large maintenance activity effecting the Silver Spring portion of the Level II Network (TDS (Public) path. The activity is a series of routing changes within the Silver Spring and College Park offices supporting the National Level II (NL2) servers.
This change will CHANGE the TDS IP address. To ensure you do not lose connectivity to the TDS server, we ask that you ADD the following IP address to your ldmd.conf file on the server ingesting from the TDS.
- OLD TDS address - 140.90.73.177
- NEW TDS address - 104.90.61.241
To ensure no loss of data flow, please ADD the new IP address (REQUEST & ALLOW). Adding vs changing will mitigate the risk of data loss during the cut over to the new IP and minimize path down time from your perspective. We will send out two maintenance notices associated with this migration.
(1) The actual cut over
Start Time: 7:00 AM (Central time) (TBD)(Tentatively - The week of May 4th)
Duration: 8 Hours
Event: Silver Spring Networking Updates(2) A completion notice (With ACTION Suggested) - to remove the old IP address)
The activity will take about 8 hours to complete and will effect Data flow of the "Silver Spring/TDS Level II Path" for up to 2.5 hours somewhere during that window.
The Data Path via the ROC (Norman, OK) NL2 servers is not part of this activity.
(No service interruption via RDS path is anticipated.)Please keep BOTH NL2 connections (Silver Spring & Norman) up to avoid data flow interruption.
National Level II (NL2) system monitoring is available on weather.gov
- NEXRAD View - WSR-88D monitoring by site location
- SERVER View - NL2 server & Network status (Shows site connectivity AND Silver Spring vs Norman Data flow)
- CONTROL View - Shows data latency for each NL2 server
- LDM View - Level II Data flow from site
- NPN View - Shows FSL2 data from the NOAA Profilers
