[Datastream #QAY-984390]: goes-16 data questions

Hi again,

No worries and very good.

re:

OK, thanks. We try to redact all personally identifiable information from
the exchanges we make public (including blanking out of email addresses,
etc.), but some folks still request that their exchanges remain private.

I think that the document you will want to look at is:

GOES-R SERIES PRODUCT DEFINITION AND
USERS’ GUIDE (PUG)

VOLUME 1: MAIN
VOLUME 2: L0 PRODUCTS
VOLUME 3: LEVEL 1B PRODUCTS
VOLUME 4: GOES-R REBROADCAST (GRB)
VOLUME 5: LEVEL 2+ PRODUCTS
APPENDIX X: ISO SERIES METADATA

November 1, 2018
REVISION 2.0

https://www.goes-r.gov/products/docs/PUG-L2+-vol5.pdf

The document you referenced in your original email is focused on the
theoretical basis for the Cloud and Moisture Imagery Products (CMIP)
that are broadcast as tiles that need to be stitched back together
in the NOAAPort SBN. The CMIP imagery products that we are reconstituting
from the NOAAPort-broadcast tiles are one set of the Level 2 products
that will comprise the revamped NIMAGE IDD feed. The other Level 2
products are things like Cloud Top Temperature, Sea Surface Temperature,
Cloud Mask, etc. It is the latter products that are split between the
NOTHER and HDS IDD feeds. The CMIP tiles are all included in the
NOTHER feed. I did not send you an example LDM configuration file
REQUEST or a pattern-action file action for the CMIP products, but
I can if you want/need them. I am guessing, however, that since you
(UWashington) are already getting the GRB ABI imagery and other
instrumentation products from the SATELLITE feed (SATELLITE was known
as DIFIX in versions of the LDM previous to LDM-6.13.7), you would not
need or want the CMIP tiles/images. Please let me know if I am
wrong about this!

You can see the list of all of the Level 2 products that are available
currently via a THREDDS listing. For instance:

https://thredds-test.unidata.ucar.edu/thredds/catalog/catalog.html

  -> Test Datasets -> GOES Products -> GRB16 -> Products

re:
> Thanks for all your help.

No worries.

Cheers,

Tom
