[Datastream #CZV-308644]: Fwd: NEXRAD on AWS outage

Hi Chris,

The following link will generate a plot of Nexrad Level 2 product latencies
for our AWS east instance that is currently responsible for populating the
S3 bucket you are likely accessing:

http://rtstats.unidata.ucar.edu/cgi-bin/rtstats/iddstats_nc?NEXRAD2+amazon.ec2e_1.unidata.ucar.edu

As you will see, there are periods of very low latency (latency is the
time difference between the receipt of a product and when it was first
injected into the IDD) followed by prolonged high latencies. An associated
piece of information is that during the periods of low latencies, products
are redundantly being received from three upstream feed instances. During
the periods of high latency, the data from two of the three upstream feed
sites are basically choked down to nothing leaving only one upstream providing
data, and that feed is being throttled somewhere. As Ryan indicated, we
are _not_ seeing this kind of behavior on the AWS west instance that Ryan
spun up yesterday:

Again, just an FYI...

Cheers,

Tom
