Re: MADIS-NWS (TOC) system shutdown March 31 2015.

MADIS Customers:

The IDP MADIS Support Team would like to request that if you want to transfer your account from the MADIS-NWS (TOC) system to the IDP MADIS that you complete the MADIS Data Application form here:

https://madis.ncep.noaa.gov/data_application.shtml

In the 'Remarks' block please include text that says this is an account transfer from the TOC. This will provide the IDP MADIS Support staff all the required information to systematically process the transfer requests.

Here is the new IDP account information to get you started:

- MADIS Website: https://madis.ncep.noaa.gov

- Public ftps location:   (For public ftp access use anonymous)

IDP Public datasets:       madis-data.ncep.noaa.gov

- Public web file download location:

IDP: https://madis-data.ncep.noaa.gov/madisPublic/data/

- Public anonymous Web file download location:

IDP: https://madis-data.ncep.noaa.gov/madisPublic1/data/

- Public Text/XML interface:

IDP: https://madis-data.ncep.noaa.gov/public/sfcdump.html

- Public anonymous Text/XML interface:

IDP: https://madis-data.ncep.noaa.gov/public/sfcdumpguest.html

You'll notice there isn't an "rftp" server at NCO for IDP MADIS. We are asking customers to use either wget or curl to download data by HTTP URL. More information will be provided to you once your account is setup at NCO.

Thank you for your help in making the transfer process a smoother process.

Regards,

Patrick

All,

On Mar 31 2015 the MADIS-NWS (TOC) system will be decommissioned.  There has been many emails regarding this event and this is a last heads up.

The system being shutdown are:
ldm.madis-data.nws.noaa.gov
rftp.madis-data.nws.noaa.gov
pftp.madis-data.nws.noaa.gov
madis-data.nws.noaa.gov

This shutdown will not effect the MADIS-IDP and MADIS-GSD system.

Please contact madis-support to get an account on the MADIS-IDP system.  It is the operational system.  It currently has more data on it than the MADIS-NWS system.  Account request received by Thursday for the MADIS-IDP are processed the following week, weather permitting.

We are sorry for this inconvenience, but glad MADIS is moving to its permanent home at MADIS-IDP
