Since Plymouth State University is a Unidata site you are eligible to access data for free via SSEC's Open Archive System.
This link below explains how the program works and includes the link to get authorization:

In addition, there are email addresses for support depending whether it is a question of access to data or use of data.

I am a graduate student at Plymouth State University and would like to use GOES
sounder derived product imagery for a research project.  I am interested in
accessing sounder derived CAPE for June, 2011 in McIDAS. Is it possible for me
to get access to this dataset?  Thank you
