No, data decoded into GEMPAK formats will still be available on a
Unidata server. Please be aware that the name of the server on which
the data will be available may change from motherlode.ucar.edu to
something else (exactly what is not known at this point).

to was misleading, it has been updated to better reflect exactly
what is going on:

Reminder: Unidata's "Motherlode" THREDDS Data Server is being Phased Out

As previously described in this post, the Unidata Program Center's primary 
THREDDS Data Server (TDS), currently using the domain name 
"motherlode.ucar.edu" is being phased out in favor of the new domain name 
"thredds.ucar.edu". The domain name "motherlode.ucar.edu" will not work for TDS 
access after August 1, 2013.

UPDATE: Please note that this change affects connections to the THREDDS Data 
Server only. Other services provided by motherlode.ucar.edu will remain in 
operation.

Use of TDS version 4.2 on the Unidata TDS server is also being phased out, and 
will not be available after June 1, 2013. Many of the variable names in all 
GRIB files have been changed in TDS 4.3. This affects almost all the model data 
served at Unidata. The Program Center is developing an application that will 
allow you to determine the new variable names (in NCEP model datasets) given 
the old names.

The main changes between TDS 4.2 and 4.3 are listed here:

The timeline for transitioning from the TDS 4.2 to the 4.3 server at Unidata is 
as follows:

    Friday, March 22nd, 2013 - the official data access URL for the Unidata TDS 
changed to thredds.ucar.edu. This address resolves to a TDS 4.3 server (the 
latest version).
    Saturday, June 1st, 2013 - the previous data access URL, 
motherlode.ucar.edu, will be changed to use the TDS 4.3 server. This marks the 
end of TDS 4.2 access on Unidata systems.
    Thursday, August 1st, 2013 - the data access URL motherlode.ucar.edu will 
no longer provide THREDDS Data Services. All users of the Unidata TDS should 
transition to using thredds.ucar.edu by this time.

Please start changing your software now to use thredds.ucar.edu and TDS 4.3.
