[Datastream #IJN-200350]: 20060708: EAST and WEST datasets not updating on unidata2

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for the details on how the GVAR data is processed after being
received by the LDM on unidata2.  It galvanized the understanding that
I formed by reading the code after sending you the earlier note.

The one item in your note that is a bit disturbing is the possibility
of multiple processes stepping on one another while trying to update
the manifest of available images.  I think that this is an issue that
bears further investigation.  I have some thoughts on an approach,
but need to flesh them out before spouting off :-)

Another, related topic: have you given some thought on if it would
be possible to get the data from the SDI(s) to unidata2 in a more
timely manner?  I ask this in ignorance since I don't know what
the logic behind deciding if a scan is finished is/needs to be.
