[Datastream #IJN-200350]: 20060708: EAST and WEST datasets not updating on unidata2

Hi Jerry,

I switched GOES-East/West ingestion processing from the 'ldm' to the 'gvarldm'
account yesterday evening on unidata2.  After I changed two file ownership
hiccups (/data/gvar/east/ALL.tmp and /data/gvar/west/ALL.tmp were owned
by ldm:staff; they needed to be owned by ldm:ustaff), processing seemed
to be working correctly, at least for awhile.

Not too long ago, the gvar_event.log file in the ~gvarldm/logs directory
showed the following error:

I never saw any '.tmp' file other than ALL.tmp in either /data/gvar/east or
/data/gvar/west.

The result of this error appears to be problems in the WEST data.  Here is
one example just run:

Questions:

- is there supposed to be an entire set of '.tmp' files in the output 
directories

- if the answer is yes, how are they created/maintained.  Again, I never saw 
these
  files in the /data/gvar/(east|west) directories.

It is pretty obvious that there is alot about the processing that is being done
that I don't understand (sigh).
