Bob,

>Sorry...I do not have a running version ATT... I could try to install
>one and work from there

Nah, that sounds like too much of an effort.

>or I could take this "once in a life time"
>opportunity for your more than generous help...(for which I would
>probably perform the famous Bob Rain Dance for Colorado in my office).

OK, I will take the offer of a performance of the famous Bob Rain Dance
for Colorado. We need moisture desperately!

I went ahead and processed the VIS and IR GOES-10 images converting
from 10-bit to 8-bit and eliminating the oversampling in the element
direction. This results in images that should be close to, if not
exactly the same, the coverage of the images in the Unidata-Wisconsin
datastream.

Just for the record (for the tracking system), the process was:

IMGCOPY NPS/G10-IR.n NPS/AREA-IR.n MAG=1 -2 STYPE=VISR SIZE=1400 1740
IMGCOPY NPS/G10-VIS.n NPS/AREA-VIS.n MAG=1 -2 STYPE=VISR SIZE=1400 1740

where 'n' is the ADDE dataset position number that ranged from 1 to 69.

I put compressed versions of the images in a directory that you can
now FTP to:

machine: motherlode.ucar.edu
user: xxxxx
pass: xxxxx
directories: download/nps/VIS, download/nps/IR

The VIS images are in AREA files 3000 - 3068; the IR images are in
AREA files 2000 - 2068. Again, all have been compressed to save some
space.

Please let me know when you have finished downloading the images so I
can clean them off of disk.

Have a great 4th!

Tom
