We received the following message. Note: The 1845z & 1902z images were
degraded.

The following information was received from NESDIS/OSO/SOCC.
Note possible degradation in GOES-8 images from 1845 UTC to 1909 UTC.

On April 29, 2002 (JD=119), SOCC Engineers will change the GOES-8 Imager
patch temperature from its LOW (94K) to the MID (101 K) set point at
about 1835 GMT. This transition will take about 30 minutes. After the
MID set point is reached, the patch will be controlled at this
temperature until late August 2002. Users should expect significant data
degradation in the 18:45 GMT and 19:01 GMT frames, and some possible
degradation in the 19:09 GMT frame.
