20020422: switch to backup Unidata-Wisconsin (MCIDAS) machine

IDD-relay sites:

Earlier today (Monday, April 22), the machine used to create
Unidata-Wisconsin (LDM feed type MCIDAS) IDD satellite imagery,
unidata.ssec.wisc.edu, experienced a disk failure. This machine is
down for the count; it will not be returning to action -- ever.

Jerry Robiadek of SSEC has configured a backup machine at SSEC,
gold.ssec.wisc.edu, as a replacement for unidata.ssec.wisc.edu. 'gold'
will act as the Unidata-Wisconsin injector until Unidata's new Sun
Enterprise 450 being installed in the SSEC Data Center can be made
operational.

Sites that were feeding MCIDAS from unidata.ssec.wisc.edu should
immediately switch to feeding from 'gold'.

Sites that were NOT feeding from unidata.ssec.wisc.edu should do
NOTHING.

The list of allowed hosts on unidata.ssec.wisc.edu was incorporated
into the active ldmd.conf file on 'gold', so you should be able to make
the feed transition by simply:

o edit your ~ldm/etc/ldmd.conf file and change the 'request MCIDAS'
  from unidata.ssec.wisc.edu to gold.ssec.wisc.edu

o stop your LDM:

  ldmadmin stop

o wait until all of your LDM processes have exited

o restart your LDM:

  ldmadmin start

The CIMSS products that have been part of the MCIDAS stream will
not be available until sometime on Wednesday. We apologize for
this inconvenience.

We thank Jerry for his quick work in getting a IDD backup machine
working. Jerry did this while on vacation using a laptop with a
marginal dial-up connection back to SSEC!! Thanks Jerry!!!

Please let Unidata User Support know if you experience problems feeding
from 'gold'.
