20011008: Re: [Fwd: NIDS Feed]

Hi Steve,

Linda,
That was my impression after talking to Richard, but I was
wondering if we (UCAR) are obtaining any NIDS products via
the NOAAport ingest.

UCAR is definitely getting the NIDS products via NOAAPort. See:

http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/ldm/feedtypes/howto-nnexrad.html

The NIDS products to date are on Channel 3 (NWS Telecommunications Gateway). There is talk that in the future they may need to use a different channel, if they get more robust and begin distributing NEXRAD Level II data, but don't worry about that yet.

Someone told me they thought NIDS
products were available on NOAAport, but I'm not sure if
we are receiving that channel. Do you know who might know over
in COMET? Then I think Richard can coordinate the WSI contract for
the coming year.

If people are using the LDM within UCAR to get their data, they are getting that channel!

Check the following URLs to see if they help.

http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/packages/ldm/feedtypes/howto-nnexrad.html

You, or whoever is in charge of your data server, should belong to ldm-users email list. You can subscribe at:

Thanks, Linda

Hey Steve,

I see where Richard indicated that the WSI is received via satellite
broadcast. I should have indicated that.
