James,

>Our Dept. hasn't received any satellite imagery (East nor West)
>since early yesterday (25 July). Now, I assumed it was initially
>related to yesterday's power outage at the Mesa Lab. However,
>we seem to be getting everything today (minus DIFAX...another
>story...seems the termination of DIFAX is coming sooner than
>later). So, my question is whether this is related to the
>use of the new PNG compression of transmitted data. One of the
>last tasks of our Dept. programmer (left for a different job)
>was to download and install the new ldm-mcidas release.
>I thought things were OK, but now I'm not sure. What can I check
>to see if corrections are necessary.

The loss of image data was perpherially related to both the power
outage at the Mesa lab and to the movement of an LDM server at Mesa lab
to a different network (IP address change). As I write this, the
images should start flowing again.

We apologize for the data blackout.

>Sincerely,
>James Murakami
