Chad,

>I have unidata.ssec.wisc.edu upgraded. The current configuration is as follows.
>
> Solaris 7
> LDM 5.0.8
> McIDAS-X 7.6

OK.

>All of the product generation software has also been recompiled. A couple minor
>issues cropped up, but nothing serious.

Anything worth mentioning?

>Could you switch over to unidata.ssec.wisc.edu at your convenience and let me
>know if you have any problems decoding any of the products?

I just switched. I will monitor this for a couple of hours and let you
know if anthing appears to be amiss.

<15 minutes later>
I saw the first images come in from unidata:

The question is why I am receiving two of the same kind back-to-back?

>Again, I don't
>suspect any problems. If everything is ok, I will send a general announcement
>to my downstream nodes later today.

Thanks for letting us test this before informing others.

>Also, one quick question. Since we are no longer broadcasting the MD's and
>GRID's etc, we are assuming you no longer want these data archived in the
>Unidata/Wisc archive. Is this true?

Well, I figured that these products wouldn't be available after they were
dropped from the datastream. If they still are, could we keep sticking
them into the archive for a litte while? What I am think of is a second
safety net for some sites that have been slow getting moving to XCD
(even though we gave them over a year :-). I am thinking that letting
this run for another one to two months couldn't hurt. If this turns
out to be a pain, then we can not do it. If it is a no brainer, then
let it run for awhile.

On another subject:

Recently, you asked for my NIDS/NOWRAD ADDE server stuff. Have you
had time to play with it (I know you are real busy)? If so, have you
noticed that in order to really make the NIDS work nicely you really
should make mods to most of the IMG* commands? Also, if you have tried
to get the NOWRAD stuff working, you will have undoubtedly noted that
you need an additional navigation module since the WSI navigation for
the 8 km US composite is a "squished" lambert conformal.

I'll dash this off so you can look into the double image transfers.

>Thanks

Talk to you later today.
