Unidata/Wisc broadcast upgrade

Hi,

We will be performing an OS and software upgrade on the Unidata/Wisconsin
broadcast equipment during and immediately following the July 4 holiday weekend.
During the upgrades, we have a backup system configured to take-over the
generation and broadcast of the image products.

Beginning July 1, the backup server will be activated. On this date we ask that
all top-level MCIDAS nodes feeding from unidata.ssec.wisc.edu switch-over to the
new server. The new server is gold.ssec.wisc.edu. There will be a period of a
couple days where both servers will be active, but we ask that all users switch
by the end of the day Friday July 2. You can expect the primary server to be
down
until July 8 or July 9.

Due to disk space limitation, the neartime archive will be severely decreased.
During the upgrade period, the number of days of data stored online on the
neartime directory will be 4 days.

Reminder that beginning July 1, all GRID and MD files will no longer be
broadcast
on the Unidata/Wisconsin IDD broadcast.

I will send a reminder of the switch-over to all top-level nodes sometime
Wednesday this week.

-Chad
