Meteosat-7 Data Interruption >
==============================

Meteosat-7 radiometer decontamination will take place from 0822 on the
18 January 1999 until 0822 on the 21 January 1999. During this
period the imager on Meteosat-7 will be turned off and the cold parts of
the spacefract heated to acheive outgassing of contaminants. For the
duration of the decontamination Meteosat-6 will be imaging and the
Meteosat-6 images, rectified to 0 DEG, will be disseminated via Meteosat-7.
After a period of cooling and re-calibration, the imaging service will be
switched back to Meteosat-7 at 0822 on 21 January.

For the Meteosat products, the decontamination means that all products
distributed on the GTS from 18 January 0900 to 21 January 0900
will be derived from Meteosat-6 images and will be labelled
as Meteosat-6 products. All abbreviated headers remain unchanged.
