[AWIPS #NWO-393528]: AWIPS / GOES-R data extraction

Depending on what you're wanting to do, you might just be able to use our 
free EDEX server?  Have you tried downloading CAVE and pointing to our
server at: edex-cloud.unidata.ucar.edu

It doesn't necessarily sound like you need to run your own EDEX server, but
if that is something you really desire/need to do, we can help you set that
up as well.
