Hi Rob,

I wonder if somehow your python path got changed for root, because it shouldn't 
have. We should be able to change that.

As root can you run:

which python

and 

env | grep python

I have seen this issue with local users (ex. awips) but root should always be 
able to run yum commands. I've noticed as well when using sudo, I have to run 

sudo su - -c "yum ........"
