[AWIPS #RAB-671867]: AWIPS II Installation in RHL

Hey Wyatt,

A couple more thoughts. Even before you go building a new VM, it came to my
attention that there are a few settings in CAVE that you may have to modify to
get the best performance. One is in the /awips2/cave/cave.ini file. There is
a maximum memory variable that gets passed through. Look for "-Xmx". You
might want to up this to 9GB or so for your 12GB VM. That would look like:
-Xmx9216

Also, when you run CAVE, if you go to "CAVE" > "Preferences" > "Performance" in
the file menu you'll see an option for "Video Card Texture Cache Size". This
is related to the amount of Video Card Memory you specified (as well as how
much is on the native machine you're running on). It could help to increase
this amount if you have powerful enough hardware.

Just an idea that these might also be affecting your performance in the VM.
