When yum is run by this installEDEX.sh script, it does not report download or 
install progress as you see when you run yum install from the command line. So 
perhaps the 2+ GB of files are taking longer than normal to download, how long 
did you wait?  

I suggest you run install from the command line to watch the progress of 
individual packages (as root):

yum clean all
yum groupinstall awips2-server
