NCL has incorporated the Earth System Modeling Framework (ESMF) regridding software into NCL. This software allows you to regrid rectilinear, curvilinear, and unstructured data, using three different interpolation methods.

New NCL functions support abilities to:

• convert time variable units using climate calendars and nicely formatted strings
• reshape a multi-dimensional array to another multi-dimensional array

The next version of NCL (6.1.0) will reading netCDF-4 data, handling netCDF-4 groups, netCDF-4 primitve types, and user-defined data types.
