International Travel

Many of the procedures for international travel are the same as for domestic travel. This page lists additional things you should consider before traveling internationally.

Make Your Travel Arrangements

Contact Cain Travel and request quotes for flights, rental cars, hotels, etc. Rental car insurance should be accepted on international travel. More about rental car insurance.

Fly With a US Carrier

UCAR travelers are required to use US air carriers whenever possible, regardless of cost or convenience. In the event that a US carrier is not available for a certain area, a foreign air carrier may be allowed. This rule, the Fly America Act, also applies any single leg of a trip. The Fly America Act often brings up questions that should be directed to UCAR's travel department.

WorldAware Registration: You are now required to obtain WorldAware Registration prior to your travel. If you book with Cain your registration is automatic. However, if you book your flights on your own, you must send a copy of your itinerary to ucar@tripsync.worldaware.com. When self-registering a trip through WorldAware, the traveler's email must be included on the CC line of the email and be the only email address on that line. Attach a copy of the WorldAware email confirmation to the expense report in Concur.

Provide Copies of Everything to Your Travel Arranger

Make sure to send copies of your plans and arrangements to Inken. She will obtain a travel request ID number, receive your airline tickets/invoices and submit your expense report upon your return.

Check Your Passport

Make sure your passport is in order, or obtain a new passport. Visit the US State Department's Passport page for more information.

International Visa Information

Visit the US State Department's Visa page for a listing of countries and their passport and visa requirements. It is important for travelers to verify these requirements in advance because travel agencies may not always provide this information.
