International Travel

Many of the procedures for international travel are the same as for domestic travel, and those will not be repeated in great detail on this page. Instead, the focus will be on procedures specific to international travel.

Make Your Travel Arrangements

Contact Boulder Travel and request quotes for flights, rental cars, hotels, etc. Rental car insurance should be accepted on international travel. More about rental car insurance.

Fly With a US Carrier

UCAR travelers are required to use US air carriers whenever possible, regardless of cost or convenience. In the event that a US carrier is not available for a certain area, a foreign air carrier may be allowed. This rule, the Fly America Act, also applies any single leg of a trip. The Fly America Act often brings up questions that should be directed to UCAR's travel department.

Provide Copies of Everything to Your Travel Arranger

Make sure to send copies of your plans and arrangements to Sandra. She will obtain a TA number, complete your Travel Authorization Form, receive your airline tickets/invoices, and submit your Travel Voucher upon your return.

Your Passport

Make sure your passport is in order, or obtain a new passport. Check out this link for more information on obtaining a passport http://www.pueblo.gsa.gov/cic_text/travel/passports/passport.htm.

International Visa Information

The US State Department of consular Affairs has a listing of countries and their passport and visa requirements. It is important for travelers to verify these requirements in advance because travel agencies may not always provide this information.
