Yes. I meant the file "config.log". My mistake.
That file contained the following:
configure:2590: checking for c89 option to accept ANSI C
configure:2660: c89 -c -g -O2 conftest.c >&5
c89: invalid option -- 2
Did the environment variable CFLAGS contain the string "-O2"?
If so, then please change it to just "-O" and re-execute the
configure script.
