Re: [THREDDS #QWW-389996]: TDS to harvest metadata from nc file

Hi Lansing,

I was going back to the TDS catalog tutorial to refresh my memory, but I find that one of the key pages is missing:

http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/projects/THREDDS/tech/tds4.3/tutorial/BasicConfigcatalogs.html

Hi Lansing,

Maybe you and I can discuss this ourselves.   I've forgotten how I did this when I set up TDS instances, but the idea is, as much as possible, to generate the  visible metadata on those catalog web pages.   I believe, in this instance, it will have to be pulled out of the files manually and entered into the XML catalog pages, but we thought it was worth checking on which aspects of the metadata can be generated automatically.

Hi Lansing,
I do not know if I completely understand your email, but if I want my page to look like this one http://motherlode.ucar.edu/thredds/catalog/fmrc/NCEP/GFS/CONUS_80km/runs/catalog.html?dataset=fmrc/NCEP/GFS/CONUS_80km/runs/NCEP-GFS-CONUS_80km_RUN_2012-12-17T18:00:00Z is there anything I can do?

Thank you Jennifer

Jennifer,

The metadata information you're describing won't show up on the
catalag page for a given dataset, but it is given through the
interfaces for opendap and ncss.  The harvest attribute has to do with
how discoverable your data inventory is by other services.
