The goal for netcdf is to have every
file type have its own dispatch table.
One of may reasons for this is that it
avoids cluttering up code with conditional
tests.
Assuming we accept your code (high probability)
then it will have its own dispatch table.
You should think about how to modify your
code to do this. My guess is that it be
your existing code without a bunch of conditional
tests.
