[netCDF #ILQ-730613]: Can't find 'netcdf MOD nf90 put att real'

Nope, you have to specify the actual subdirectories that contain the header and 
library
files, as described here:

  http://www.unidata.ucar.edu/netcdf/docs/netcdf-fortran-install.html

or as you would see in the output from nc-config or nf-config.

So leaving those out is defintiely *a* problem, if not *the* problem.  Just to
be clear, use:

  -I/user/mastf/nd0001/CarbonCycle/test/include
and
  -L/user/mastf/nd0001/CarbonCycle/test/lib
