Howdy Karsten!

The F90 API depends completely on the F77 API. If you --disable-f77 that turns 
off the F90 API too. You must build both if you want the F90 API.

The problem you are having is one that has to do with ifort and some mistakes I 
made in the various configure and build files of netCDF. Other users with this 
problem have reported success with the latest snapshot, which leads me to 
deduce that you are using different configure options than they were, and that 
I missed cleaning up some mistakes in the build system. I am making another 
pass through it now, and I wonder if you could try it. Get my snapshot release 
here:
