[netCDF #TOS-768937]: netcdf-4.1.1 error

I've just duplicated a problem that's very similar to yours, trying to build
netCDF 4.1.1 with HDF5 1.8.6, just using a recent gcc compiler, so I don't
think it has anything to do with the Intel compiler version.  It appears to
be a problem with the combination (netCDF-4.1.1, HDF5-1.8.6), although 
HDF5-1.8.6
works fine with our current daily snapshot and netCDF-4.1.1 works fine with the
previous HDF5-1.8.5-patch1.

We're investigating the cause of this, but in the meantime, a workaround would 
be
to try the latest daily snapshot netCDF release or netCDF-4.1.2-beta2:

  ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/snapshot/netcdf-4-daily.tar.gz
or
  ftp://ftp.unidata.ucar.edu/pub/netcdf/netcdf-4.1.2-beta2.tar.gz
