Re: whither hdf5 1.8.0 beta?

Can someone give me a semi-solid release date for hdf5 1.8.0beta/

makes planning really hard.
I'm just making the first "stable format" snapshot for Ed Hartnett
now, which will be the basis for our first beta release of HDF5-1.8.0
in the next week or two. I've been working with Ed over the last few
weeks, helping him test things in HDF5 and iron out integration
issues, so I know he's working hard on the nc4 end of things also.
With that in mind, we should be moving into the beta release side of
things in the next few weeks. :-) Unfortunately, Ed is on vacation
for the next ~2 weeks, so that'll slow down the nc4 progress, but I
think Ed has been moving quickly to take advantage of the newest
features in the HDF5 release and it probably won't be too bad.
If anyone is interested, here's the URL for the "stable format"
snapshot:
ftp://ftp.hdfgroup.uiuc.edu/pub/outgoing/koziol/hdf5-1.8.0-
of20070312.tar.gz
Some of the API routine names will be changing a bit, but any files
that are produced from this snapshot (or later ones) will be readable
by future versions of the library.
