Hi Mike,

re: ETA for Unidata McIDAS-X/-XCD v2017 release - by December 1 for sure

I keep getting yanked off to tend to other things. Oh well!

Hmm... I guess I shouldn't have been so glib. Here are the things that
are definitely changing:

- change in the base name for the ADDE servers for NOAAPort ABI imagery

  Since it is almost 100% sure that the Weather Service is going to stick
  with converting to SCMI format for NOAAPort distribution, I decided to
  rename my servers to reflect the type:

  abiwadir.cp -> scmiadir.cp
  abiwaget.cp -> scmiaget.cp
  abiwutil.h  -> scmiutil.h
  abiwutil.c  -> scmiutil.c

  This change will necessitate changing the ADDE dataset definitions that
  are codified in $MCDATA/RESOLV.SRV:

  ABIW -> SCMI

- I changed the names of both the NOAAPort and GRB delivered ABI images to
  better match what SSEC is using for GRB images

  To see the reworked names, do the following from a McIDAS-X session:

DATALOC ADD RTGOESR lead.unidata.ucar.edu
DATALOC ADD NPGOESR lead.unidata.ucar.edu

DSINFO IMAGE RTGOESR
DSINFO IMAGE NPGOESR

  You will see in the listing for the NPGOESR datasets that the L2 products
  also have definitions. I decided to include the L2 products in the NPGOESR
  group even though they are of type ABIN since they are delivered in
  NOAAPort (NoaaPort -> NP; Real Time -> RT).

These changes will require you do some tweaking, but the changes should
be quick and easy to make.

re: SSEC's Python support in XRD is 2 not 3

Yea, I was a bit disappointed as well.

Cheers,

Tom
