[McIDAS #EUT-864314]: mcidas 2008 build problems

Hi Bill,

Actually, it is possible that the problems you were attempting to report
on are related to my inquiry about what GRDDISP invocations you are running
to access the RTGRIDS/GFS-ALL dataset.

Well, it is beyond us as well! It seems that the hangs all occur in the
morning between 10:35 and 14:45 UTC.

Thanks. These will give me some things I can run routinely while monitoring the
server side. Hopefully, it will lead to some clarity as to why certain plot
attempts
hang.

Actually, you should be able to leave the lines in if you change the dataset
from
RTGRIBS/GFS-ALL to RTGRIDS/GFS -- I believe that this is what you were using
previously. I ran some tests yesterday where I plotted wind barbs (PARM=WINDB)
from both the RTGRIBS/GFS-ALL and RTGRIDS/GFS datasets. The results were bad
plots
for data from RTGRIBS/GFS-ALL and good ones from RTGRIDS/GFS.

NB: RTGRIDS is hosted on the same machine as RTGRIBS, adde.ucar.edu:

DATALOC ADD RTGRIDS adde.ucar.edu

OK, that is good to hear. We will be heading off to the AMS Annual meeting in
Phoenix on Sunday. Between now and then, I have several things that must get
finished (like my AMS paper which is due tomorrow) :-(

Cheers,

Tom
