Ying,

>Can I get to know some details about the format of GOES files, i.e.
>coordinate system etc?

Which GOES files are you referring to? The ones in the Unidata-Wisconsin
IDD datastream (IDD feed type UNIWISC, aka MCIDAS)?

>Or where can I find this infomation?

The document we have that describes the GVAR satellite navigation is:

DRL 504-11
Earth Location Users Guide
For the GOES I-M Spacecrafts

If you are trying to understand the format of the AREA files that
contain the imagery in the Unidata-Wisconsin datastream, you will
will want to look at a couple of documents:

area.doc
area2.doc

This are put in the ~mcidas/help directory after you install Unidata
McIDAS-X.

In addition, one can learn about the AREA file header from the McIDAS
Programmers Reference Manual:

http://www.ssec.wisc.edu/mug/prog_man/prog_man.html

Please NOTE: If you are not a member of the SSEC McIDAS Users Group,
you are not entitled to send them questions on McIDAS-related issues.
Because of our agreement with them, you would be required to send
your questions to Unidata User Support. Any questions that we can
not answer will then be relayed to use to SSEC for response.

>Thanks and have a good day!

No worries.
